underoath - A Message For Adrienne
i tried so hard to be her day
but the night has already taken me away
shedding dreams under the maple tree
where i carved your name
nothing left, not even time
straight reads the line
his life had reached the end
wanting only to be loved by adrienne
latters explained his grief
but she would never read
his wrists would bleed
but she would never see
so he took his life at the age of 23
and she had always loved him
be he would never know
for she covered her love
like stars cover the sky
hiding her heart
fearing what he would find inside
years took her away
a widow she remained
holding him deep inside
wishing she too would die
time favors no one and if we wait
we too can fall in love
a second too late

I agree, this is probably the sadest and most emotional song I have ever heard. The lyrics make me wanna weep
i agree with armondo except that he DID tell her he loved her: "letters explained his grief but she would never read" because she was shy. but he thought she just flat out didnt like him. so the emo guy took his life. but the poor widow did learn her lesson.
yes, that is the literal meaning, but what the band is trying to get across is that we must accept Christ as our savious as soon as possible. Afterall, the band is a Gospel band... well was back then.
this is an extremely sad song. it is the story of a boy who is madly in love with a girl. afraid that his love would not be returned, he keeps it a secret. years pass and heart-ache eventually compells the boy to take his own life. after his death we find that the girl had loved the boy from the begining but was afraid to confess her love to him because she feared that he was too good for her. the last few lines are a warning to all to confess your love to the person you truly care for now because you never know when your time may run out and you lose your chance to let that person know how you truly feel.
